Size Guide

Every SimiTeds piece is made to order. Use this guide to find your standard size, or take your own measurements for a truly bespoke fit.

How to Take Your Measurements

For the best results, measure over light, form-fitting clothing. Keep the tape snug but not tight, and stand naturally.

Chest / Bust

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, keeping it level across your back and under your arms.

Waist

Measure around your natural waistline - the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the navel.

Hips

Stand with your feet together. Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, about 8-9 inches below your natural waist.

Shoulder Width

Measure straight across the back from the tip of one shoulder to the tip of the other.

Height

Stand barefoot against a wall. Mark the top of your head and measure from the floor to that mark. This helps us determine garment length.

Sleeve Length

From the tip of your shoulder, down the outside of your arm with a slight bend at the elbow, to your wrist bone.

Tip: Ask someone to help you measure - it's much easier than doing it alone and gives more accurate results.

All measurements are of the body, not the garment. If you're between sizes, size up for a more comfortable traditional fit.

Fit Tips for Traditional Attire

Traditional Nigerian garments are designed differently from Western clothing. Here's how sizing typically works per style.

Agbada / Babariga

Agbada is intentionally wide and flowing. Your chest measurement determines your size, but consider sizing up by one if you prefer extra drape and volume - this is the traditional preference.

Senator / Kaftan

Senator suits are tailored closer to the body than Agbada. Go with your true size for a smart, structured look, or size up slightly if you prefer a relaxed silhouette.

Aso-Oke / Buba & Iro

For women's styles, the blouse (buba) should fit comfortably at the bust and shoulders. The skirt (iro) is wrap-style, so hip measurement is most important here.

Ankara Sets & Dresses

Fitted Ankara dresses follow body measurements closely. If your bust and hip measurements fall into different size brackets, choose the larger size - we can tailor the fit on a bespoke order.

Always size up. Nigerian traditional attire generally looks and feels better with a little extra room. Alternatively, switch to the custom measurements option at checkout and provide your exact figures - we'll cut the fabric to your body, not to a size label.

As accurate as possible. Even a half-inch difference in chest or waist can affect how the finished garment sits. If you're unsure, we strongly recommend booking a fitting session at our studio - it's free and takes about 20 minutes.
One of our tailors will take all the measurements you need using professional tools. You'll leave with a full record of your measurements, which you can use on any future order. It's also a great opportunity to browse fabrics and discuss your order in person.
